IVF Refund Program

Many patients in IVF programs do not have health insurance that allows them to repeat successive treatments. FIV CENTRE started a REFUND program in their centres for couples without health insurance cover. We offer six (6) in vitro fertilization treatments at a fixed price. If you have not given birth to a baby after your cycles of treatment we will return 80% of the initial amount which can be utilized for related alternatives. This is a strictly VOLUNTARY option. The program has been revised completely by the Ethics Committee of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. It is understood that  adequately informed consent that is medically and ethically correct can generate a particular benefit to patients without Health Insurance. (Fertility and Sterility 2004; 82:S249-S250).

Should you decide to participate in this program, we offer 6 complete cycles of treatment, including possible freezing, for a total amount of 20,000 Euros.  Should you require microinjection techniques (ICSI) the cost will be 22,000 Euros.  If you become pregnant and give birth, the clinic’s contract is fulfilled. If, after the 6 treatments you have not given birth, we will return 80% of the initial amount.

The program functions because if you do not give birth, the centre covers almost the total cost.  On the other hand, if you do fall pregnant and have a baby after the first treatment you will have paid more money in comparison to the conventional rates.

Any couples who meet the normal conditions for in vitro fertilization  can be included in this program. The program requires a maximum period of 18 months for completion and therefore the maximum acceptable age for candidates is no more than 37 years at the start of the program.

At the start you will need to have a general screening, showing normal hormone levels during FSH and a normal uterine cavity.

The program does not include the following sectors:

  • Initial diagnostic tests.
  • Medication.
  • Anaesthesia.
  • Costs associated with medical complications that require external hospitalization, such as curettage for abortions or laparoscopy for ectopic pregnancies.
  • Costs of urologist for testicular biopsy.
  • Costs of maintenance of frozen semen, oocytes or embryos after the birth of a baby.

FIV CENTRE reserves the right to terminate the contract in very unusual circumstances. These include:

  • Unexpected poor response to the treatment.
  • Failure of fertilization even with microinjection (ICSI).
  • Failure of embryonic development or fragmentation of embryo.

In these rare cases, 80% of the initial amount will be repaid, regardless of the number of treatments completed.
